Sound environmental practices are central to the way we work. Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it makes economic sense. We discovered this when we stopped out-sourcing the majority our demolition waste removal and instead began sorting and recycling on-site ourselves on various projects. By keeping the process in-house more got recycled, plus we got to reap the dollar rewards from items such as scrap metal. A green win-win so to speak.
But it’s not just rubbish removal we’re striving to improve, we want to create less waste in the first place. It’s all about small changes that add up. An example of this is that instead of churning out reams of paper, we’re now making tender documents available to view online by providing approved bidders with a secure log-in. And of course we have a well-established relationship with the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC). Together we are continually developing sustainable building principles and practices.
